The fishing on the Roaring Fork is good every month of the year and is one of Colorado's most productive winter fisheries.  The Fork is floatable all year and weather conditions in February and March are often very comfortable with temperatures between 40 to 55 during winter! The Roaring Fork is dropping fast. It is fishing well but it is HOT out so be sure to have a Thermometer and check the temps often. Stop fishing at 68 degrees. Because it is hot and low, the fishing is technical. You have to go SMALL. We are still seeing PMD's, Caddis, Midges, BWO's and the Hopper bite is good. Try a Hopper Dropper Dropper rig with a Chubby to a size 18 Perdigon to a Barr PMD Emerger or Juju Baetis in size 20. For Dries, Caddis and small PMD's are still getting eats. A small hopper is a good option too. Towards the evening, CADDIS! Yes, THROW DRIES! Nymphing is great as well but go tiny. KF Flashers, Darth Baetis and small pink perdigons. Streamers are always a good option in the am.

ATTENTION FISHERMEN: We have seen a few days go above 68 degrees on the Roaring Fork. Please have a thermometer and check the temps daily. Please stop fishing when the water hits 68 Degrees.

SPAWNING CLOSURES:The Rainbow Trout should be done spawning but if you see one be sure to leave them alone and DON'T FISH TO THEM. Look for posted signs and closures.
