ECOMMERCE/CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER

Compensation: $20–$23/hour DOE | Full-Time, Year-Round

POSITION SUMMARY

Vail Valley Anglers is looking for an Ecommerce Customer Service Manager, who will act as a liaison, provide product/services information, and resolve any emerging problems that our customer accounts might face with accuracy and efficiency. The target is to ensure excellent service standards, respond efficiently to customer inquiries, and maintain high customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONISBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of VVA.com processing.
  • Processing VVA.com orders.
  • Work with receiving to complete all VVA.com sales.
  • Manage fulfillment process and shipping systems.
  • Communicating with secondary members of the team to help process orders.
  • Train and direct VVA staff on best practices for VVA.com orders.
  • Maintain inventory levels of shipping supplies.
  • Cycle counts of in-store products when needed
  • Lead Shopify agent for VVA.com issues.
  • Identify and assess customers’ needs to achieve satisfaction.
  • Build sustainable relationships and trust with customer accounts through open and interactive communication.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits; follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Take the extra mile to engage customers.   
  • Manage, maintain, and keep organized all backstock locations.  
  • Organize and maintain shipping boxes and back stock.
  • Transfer of close-out products to VVA.com or appropriate location.
  • Perform basic shop processes like restock of inventory, cleaning, merchandising, selling licenses, and selling products on the floor. 
  • Book trips for guide service customers.
  • Organize shuttle services for guided trips.
  • Assist with customer/weekly transfers
  • Assist in training all new shop staff in all aspects of Brindlechute and Shopify.
  • Assist in new guide selections.
  • Coordinate Spring Kickoff event.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Proven customer service experience with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • A good foundational knowledge of Fly Fishing & Fly-Tying techniques.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily performed indoors in a fast-paced retail environment, with occasional outdoor demonstrations, events, and customer activities. Employees must be able to stand and move throughout an 8–10-hour shift, lift and carry inventory weighing up to 50 pounds, and safely use ladders, box cutters, hand trucks, and other standard retail equipment. Manual dexterity is required for tying flies, building leaders, and spooling fly lines. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

FLY FISHING RETAIL SHOP ASSOCIATE

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fly-Fishing Retail Shop Associate provides exceptional customer service while using strong technical fishing knowledge to recommend equipment, flies, and gear. This position also supports daily retail operations, inventory, reservations, and river shuttle logistics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide knowledgeable, personal recommendations on rods, reels, backing, fly lines, terminal tackle, flies, and other fishing      equipment.

·  Share current information on local river conditions, access points, insect hatches, and effective fly patterns.

· Demonstrate equipment features, rigging techniques, casting, knot-tying, and other basic fishing skills.

· Operate the POS system accurately, including sales, exchanges, and gift cards; Shopify experience preferred.

· Maintain an organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing retail floor.

· Assist customers by phone and email with guided-trip reservations and rental equipment.

· Build leaders, spool fly lines, and assist customers with technical equipment setup.

· Safely drive trucks and trailers for river shuttle operations.

· Contribute to a professional, welcoming, and team-oriented shop environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· Strong fly-fishing knowledge, including practical experience with Colorado trout waters and regional river systems.

· Knowledge of fly-fishing techniques, rigging, and equipment configurations.

· Understanding of fly-line tapers, backing capacities, fly selection, matching hatches, and basic entomology.

· Previous retail sales, fly-shop, guiding, or outdoor hospitality experience strongly preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with anglers.

·Strong attentionto detail, organization, and customer-service skills.

· Ability to work a flexible seasonal schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak-season overtime.

We are always looking for qualified wade fishing guides for our summer season. 

Summer season typically begins June 15th depending on runoff and runs through the end of August or beginning of September. The wade guiding takes place on the Colorado, Eagle, and Piney Rivers as well as Gore Creek. 

Competitive pay, pro-forms and shop discounts available, and all trip expenses like shuttles, lunches, fly reimbursements are covered by the shop. No hassle guiding, we are an experienced and professional operation with a supportive team environment. End of season party and guide gift.

Pay: Depends on Experience, Paid per trip not Salary.

Qualifications:

  • It is REQUIRED to attend and pass Vail Valley Anglers’ Guide School (scholarships available for experienced guides)
  • Must have local housing
  • Must have an appropriate car and all necessary gear to run safe and successful fishing trips
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Clean driving record
  • Car Insurance Requirement with an insurance stipend to cover the additional premiums incurred.
